INTJ: how to stop procrastination?
Ni-Fi loop of INTJ
INTJ procrastination often stems from a clash within their core values (Ni-Fi loop). The conflict arises from the tension between pragmatism and a fear of feeling dehumanized by solely focusing on practical tasks. This internal struggle—the desire for purpose (Fi) colliding with the exploration of endless possibilities (Ni)—leads to cycles of self-doubt and reevaluation. Without resolution, this can escalate into anxiety and depression.
Solution:
First, decide to either complete the task or process your feelings about it. If you choose the latter one, write or type out your feelings about the task. Use line breaks between sentences.
Then, examine each sentence you wrote, considering:
- Is it exaggerated?
- Is it negative?
- Is it uncharacteristic of your usual self?
If one of them is "true", create a counter-statement. Compare the original sentence with its counter-statement. Select the statement that you believe is more accurate and helpful. Finally, reflect on whether this process has helped you to release pent-up emotions. This emotional release often leads to increased motivation to tackle the task. Otherwise, redo the feeling process until you find some insights.
